I’ve written love songs before but it’s been more abstract and a completely different musical expression. The song arrived within the wave of the actual reality of falling in love again and It was an ode to that experience. I wanted people to be able to sit in the feeling so it has lots of repetition and a chord progression that pedals around the same types of chords. The addition of those strings! Talk about swoonfest! It was one of my favourite memories in making this song, hearing those arrangements come together our studio at Hello Daydreamer. There’s footage of my partner and son coming into the studio to hear and see the quartet play, my little one was utterly beguiled.
