I wait for my Northern Star to show
I wait for my Northern Star to show
Since you made the choice to leave
I’ve been trying to find my feet
I didn’t get the chance to be more for you
I coulda done more, more
I wait for my Northern Star to show
I wait for my Northern Star to show
The thing that’s going round my head
Is that I’ll never get that time again
I wish I knew that then
Oh-oh-oh
I woulda done more, more
I wait for my Northern Star to show
I’ll wait for my Northern Star to show
I’ll wait for my Northern Star
I’ll wait for my Northern Star
I’ll wait for my Northern Star
I can’t wait for my Northern Star
I can’t wait for my Northern Star to show
Slow motion it’s out of line
But there’s a symmetry in the changing of tides
Now there’s a river running fly
Unlock the gate to your mind
You’re comfortable in your skin
Dantien is flowing within
Head, shoulders to your toes in time
Unlock the gate to your mind
Much to your surprise you found the animal inside
Much to your surprise you turned the animal outside
Much to your surprise you found the animal inside
Much to your surprise you turned the animal out animal outside
There’s a confidence a place to hide
In the reverie of your ride
You’re unaware like a child
Of how beautiful you are, wild
You’re unlocked within
In your saline spin
Oh, sever all ties tonight
While you unlock the gate to your mind
Much to your surprise you found the animal inside
Much to your surprise you turned the animal outside
Much to your surprise you found the animal inside
Much to your surprise you turned the animal out animal outside
Stacking the shelves
Supermarket shift
Fluorescent lights
Making your fire die
Still you persist but you barely get by
While you wonder while you wonder what it all could be like
If you just stepped outside this line
What could your life be like…
To walk out the door
To speak your mind
It’s what you want
Walk out the door
While they choke on your dust
Don’t wait for a sign
If it’s what you want
It holds you close
This so-called security
Digging your hole
Unnecessary apology
Still you persist but you barely get by
While you wonder while you wonder what it all could be like
If you just stepped outside this line
What could your life be like…
To walk out the door
To speak your mind
It’s what you want
Walk out the door
While they choke on your dust
Don’t wait for a sign
If it’s what you want
about
Ainslie says:
Sometimes the will to create something can be burdened by intense pressure to ‘get it done’ or for it to fit into a preconceived idea of what you think will land with an audience. Whilst we’d like to not care what people think, there is always an element of that but this EP feels different to me. The project was born out of the sheer desire to bring something to life for the sake of bringing something to life. We didn’t really have an agenda other than that, we didn’t really think it would even be released! Collaborating with James was so fun! It didn’t feel like we really hit one obstacle during the whole process, it was green lit all the way and that felt f**king amazing.
James says:
Every now and again something comes along that reminds you why you do what you do and this was one of those projects. We didn’t have a time constraint, we were (for the most part) thousands of miles away which actually didn’t seem to matter, something I still can’t quite get my head around! Because there was no real talk of even releasing anything it was purely music for its own sake which can either fail horribly and never happen or be completely liberating. Luckily it was the later of those two options. This was so much fun to do, such a lovely experience.

The four songs on the new EP from Rylie DeGarmo give country melodies a mysterious glow, recalling the best of Cowboy Junkies. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 25, 2022

Beautiful, haunting and uplifting simultaneously. Vocals that truly connect float over layers of lush instrumentation and Tim's signature mastery of rhythm. On repeat. Toast Rack
